Utility sponsored lamp exchanges are a great way to engage with your customers, bring them value, and help lower electricity use.

Organizational Support Services pioneered lamp exchanges in California and implements the largest lamp exchange program in the State: the SCE Lamp Exchange.

This program has exchanged over 250,000 lighting products (including LED Night Lights and LED Holiday Lights) and delivered over 16 million kilowatt hours of savings from 2006 – 2012.

How it Works:

Customers bring in standard incandescent lamp fixtures and exchange them for new, fluorescent lamps. The new lamps are Energy Star rated and include a GU24 pin-based bulb.

  • Step 1

    Customers enter the event through an ID check portal where we ensure that the participant is indeed a customer of the utility sponsor
  • Step 2

    Customers drop off their lamps at the Recycling Station, where we sort lamps into the correct container based on materials. Metals are taken to a recycling facility.
  • Step 3

    We collect all necessary customer data into our reporting system and the customer chooses their new lamps.
  • Step 4

    Customers pick up their new lamps and return home to enjoy energy savings.
